How To Hypnotize-Should You Hypnotize Children?

In my training course I tell parents how to hypnotize their kids to do their homework, clean their room, etc. So yes you can use hypnosis on your kids. The question is should you? This was addressed recently over at

In that post they talk about using a stage hypnotist to hypnotize a group of kids. This is where I personally have to draw the line. First of all it is commonly believed you can not hypnotize someone to do something against their will. While I do not agree with this either let’s use this assumption for this particular discussion.

The idea that you can’t hypnotize a person to do something against their will is directed towards adults. As adults we have a fully developed set of morals and rules (or at least we’re supposed to). Children on the other hand are still very impressionable and much more open to suggestion, any suggestion.

As parents using hypnotic techniques to hypnotize your kids to clean their room would probably not cause them any harm or effect their moral code. On the other hand if, like the example at the post above, you invite a preacher in to hypnotize a group of kids to believe in god above all else, then you may end up with radical terrorists.

Now that is NOT to say this is the result. I am simply explaining that kids, since they are much more impressionable and have not set up any real mental defenses should not be subjected to this kind of hypnosis nor should you let someone other than a professional hypnotherapist hypnotize them.
