Hypnosis – The Role of the Subject

When you are learning hypnosis, it’s perfectly natural to focus on the techniques you have to master.

However, it is not uncommon for novice practitioners to be overly enthusiastic to apply what they have learned. In turn, they tend to put their focus on creating hypnosis, rather than on the subject.

For this reason, I want to talk to you about the importance of the subject in every hypnotic induction.

Your task, as a hypnotist, is to create a plan for action in the person’s subconscious mind. In order to achieve, this you have to create a desire in him, some sort of drive, which will motivate him to do what you want.

In order to accomplish this, you have to exploit the emotions, believes and instincts of the subject. That is why you cannot use hypnosis effectively, unless you concentrate on the person you want to put under your spell.

One of the major hypnosis mistakes, I have noticed in my practice, is that beginners are eager to apply a language pattern or a ready script they have decided to use. In turn, they don’t let the subject speak. The result is that not subconscious connection can be established.

In my experience, you have to let the subject speak as much as possible. The more he speaks the more you will learn about him. More importantly, it will be easier for you to turn the conversation into the direction you desire.

Listen carefully to what the person has to say. Then show an agreement and/or understanding. Then slip the phrase that will get the subject into trance or the actual suggestion, depending on the situation.

You have just learned how to use hypnosis more effectively by recognizing the importance of the subject for the induction. Now is the right time to keep learning.
